John knew he needed inpatient rehab after his stroke before he could safely return home.

Following a stroke, John Brown admitted to Greenwood Regional Rehabilitation Hospital for inpatient stroke rehab.

The 68-year-old from Abbeville, SC, arrived at GRRH experiencing significant deficits. “With my left side being so weak, I couldn’t walk or get dressed on my own,” John recalled. “And the worst part of my stroke was how it affected my ability to speak and swallow.”

“I knew going home wasn’t my best option,” John added, sharing why he chose GRRH for his recovery.

After two weeks of inpatient rehabilitation, John’s capabilities improved by leaps and bounds. He can now walk up to 150 feet with a rolling walker, dress with minimal assistance, and eat independently with thickened liquids.
