John Slappy knew he needed help regaining his function after a stroke, and chose GRRH to help

Before his stroke, John Slappy was an active member of our local community. Unfortunately, the stroke significantly limited John’s abilities. At home, John was weak, lacked balance, and could barely walk 25 feet. He fell often and struggled to accomplish everyday tasks.

To regain his function and independence, John needed medical rehabilitation. He chose Greenwood Regional Rehabilitation Hospital to help him overcome this challenge.

“I didn’t want to leave home, but I knew I couldn’t continue down my current path,” John shared. “I’m glad I decided to come.”

“I wanted to get back to my former self and just needed the opportunity. Greenwood Regional Rehabilitation Hospital gave me that. The dedicated staff and physicians were with me every step, and I never felt alone on my recovery journey.”

Thanks to all the people involved in his care at GRRH, John can now walk three hundred feet, is largely independent, and can accomplish his daily tasks. Congratulations, John!
